Name:

calculate_beff.pro

Purpose:

Calculates the effective connected magnetic field strength of an active region.

Calling sequence:

sum_hor_mag_grad,c_img_blos,c_img_cont,g_s,slf,d_l_f,weight_cent,lead_cent,foll_cent,fit_coeff=fit_coeff,minsize=minsize

Input parameters:

c_img_blos : Blos HARP cutout magnetogram, corrected for limb presence and deproject.

c_img_blos : continuum HARP image, corrected for limb presence.

Keywords:

fit_coeff: The coefficients K1 and K2 for the empirical relation <B>=f(A) (see Korsós et al. 2014)

Min_size : minimum size of detected umbra (in MSH). Default equal to 0.5 (in accordance with the Debrecen Observatory limit)

Output:

g_s: The sum of the horizontal magnetic gradient according to Korsos & Erdelyi (2016)

slf: the seperation distance

d_l_f: the distance between leading and following

weight_cent: the weighted centroid

lead_cent: weighted centroid of the leading subgroup

foll_Cent: weighet centroid of the following subgroup
